FACING NORTH STRATEGIC REVIEW
THE BRIEF
The Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade (DITT) engaged Mayvin Global to develop a refreshed approach for Facing North – held in Canberra.
This event is held annually, during a Parliament sitting week to demonstrate the Northern Territory’s business, economic and social credentials to political and business professionals. The intended outcome is a better understanding of the Territory and facilitation of new opportunities for the future.
Following a three year hiatus (due to COVID-19), DITT was keen to address the format, budget implications of a self-sustaining event and achieve increased engagement with the Canberra federal political community.

“Facing North is a signature event led by the Northern Territory Government and the Darwin Major Business Group. The event had been held for three consecutive years prior to COVID-19. It needed a re-fresh and a critical review.
Mayvin Global were engaged to develop a Strategy for Facing North. They provided a critical assessment of how the event could be re-introduced as a must-attend for the federal political, media and business community. Mayvin Global were engaged in 2021, and the event was delivered in August 2023. The strategy demonstrated depth and understanding of business events, political and business delegates and client and government objectives.
Many of the recommendations from the Mayvin Global Strategy were adopted. What stood out, was that their recommendations delivered on the elements proposed. In adopting the recommendations, the event created a sense of ‘must attend’ and setting the NT business community apart.
We are delighted with the success, and we thank Mayvin Global for the foresight and critical thinking that helped define this re-shaped event.”
