TOURISM ACTION PLAN

THE BRIEF

​

The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation (DAAFF) is a not-for-profit Indigenous organisation that is owned and governed by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Centres it represents.  It engaged Mayvin Global to develop a Tourism Action Plan for its flagship annual event, the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair.

 

The Art Fair is staged in Darwin each year and showcases the contemporary fine art and design of more than 70 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Centres from across Australia.

 

​The goals of the Tourism Action Plan were to: 

​

  1. Recognise the important role of DAAF in supporting and driving tourism to the NT. 
     

  2. Increase dwell time at DAAF (and in Darwin) for international and interstate visitors.  
     

  3. Support self-generated revenue in a declining commitment of government funding. 
     

  4. Identify short term wins (or uplifts) in revenue to maximise its reach in the tourism sector both in and out of the NT.

THE OUTCOME

​

Mayvin Global delivered a Tourism Action Plan setting out short, medium and long-term recommendations across four strategic pillars, identifying key market segments and resourcing recommendations to enable the action plan.  

​

 

DAAFF was able to include recommendations in their planning for the 2024 Art Fair and will continue to build their profile and leverage the actions to grow domestic and international visitors.

Mayvin Global worked with our organisation over 12 months to create a Tourism Action Plan.  In that time, our organisation experienced huge growth.  The Mayvin Global team accommodated much of the evolution and change during that time and had the flexibility and expertise to grow and learn with us!
