Gala events are back in Sydney! Friday 10 November was the night of nights for the 2021 B&T Awards, presented by YouTube. With flowing champagne, there was an industry crowd of glitz and glamour, finally unmasked to recognise and celebrate the best in the advertising world. The Horden Pavilion was center stage for the second year in a row, working with Laissez-faire Catering to masterfully host 900 guests for this special evening.
Event organisers, The Misfits Media Company, declared their event a great success and were thrilled to re-book the Horden Pavilion and work with Laissez-faire Catering for a second time in a row. “The Horden, is one of the only large venue spaces in Sydney to fit our event numbers. We also love that it's a blank canvas, which gives us so many opportunities to be as creative as possible. Jade and the Playbills team are also super helpful and easy to work with. Their attention to detail, persistence and operational processes ensuring we were COVID compliant for such a big event were second to none.’ said Riin Rohenberg, Events Manager, The Misfits Media Company.
The Misfits Media Company have also had a long association with Laissez-faire Catering. “We didn’t give it a second thought not to work with Laissez-faire Catering again to deliver this event. David Quinn and Sara Flaksbard are the nicest and easiest people to work with. So flexible with any last-minute plan changes. They just make it happen. Laissez-faire Catering managed all aspects of the catering and compliance requirements with the venue from end to end, which takes the pressure off. Such Go-Getters those two!” said Riin.
Managing 900 covers for a Gala event is mind boggling to the uninitiated and begs the question as to how things ran on the night including how was the food? “The operational management on the night was just as top class as in previous years. Giulio from Laissez-faire Catering, who has managed the catering aspect on the night for the past few years, is so on top of things that we don't even have to stress about catering on the night. He always has it under control. From food to service, last minute plan changes, last minute dietaries etc. said Riin. “As for our chosen menu, we know Laissez-faire Catering are known for their sustainable practices and choosing seasonal produce when designing the menu to our requirements. It was delicious!”
Sara Flaksbard, General Manager, Laissez-faire Catering commented. “We thrive on catering for events of this size – and we’ve missed them! This year we have made the effort to video the back of house operations to commemorate this event. It’s heart-warming that returning clients like The Misfits Media Company, come back so that we can build on the creativity and innovation year on year. Ultimately giving their guests a new event with the same high-quality food and beverage experience they trust.”
